Read and reflect, please and thank you, upon the words of Paul in 1st Corinthians 10:11-13.
Follow with Psalm 46:1-3;10-11. Those Scriptures will help us along this week.
We at Covenant are in the 4th of 6 weeks with Half-Truths Sermon Series.
This week: God won’t give you more than you can handle.
The implications of this ½ truth to real everyday living are many. For example:
Think about God giving you something to handle, careful that God won’t give you MORE than you can handle. What is going on here? The text was originally, and still is, about the Corinthians facing abundant and beguiling temptations. The streets were littered with opportunities to go astray. Paul writes to assist them. The text helps us as well in our temptations. From whatever sources, this Scripture has fallen into an often used statement:
God won’t give you more than you can handle.
½ truth? Go figure. Lets gather and review this Corinthian Scripture, and see what the Psalm, and perhaps some other texts, may render for our daily talk and walk.
More to come.
See you Sunday.
