Dominican Republic Missions
We have a long and strong relationship with our brothers and sisters in the Dominican Republic.
1. Throughout the year we collect and send infant and toddler clothing for the youngest children living in the area of Barahona.
2. We also serve as one of the partners in the DREAM (Dominican Republic Emergency Ambulatory Medical) Ministries. Each year, Covenant, along with other churches in North Carolina sends medical and construction missionaries to southwest Dominican Republic to the city of Barahona.
The Medical aspect of the mission serves several areas. In the hospital in Barahona, surgical teams see hundreds of patients in the course of a week for emergency or long awaited surgeries that are not available to most people there. A team of doctors and pharmacists also serve in the outlying area, particularly at the Clinica Buen Samaritano (Good Samaritan Clinic) in Batey 7 (a village that houses sugar cane workers and their families) and other surrounding bateys.
The Mission in the Dominican Republic also includes building teams and clinical teams.
