1. Clothing Drive for Block Party at Ward St. UMC

Project: We will be sorting clothes that have been collected based on gender and adult/children.
Age: All ages; elementary school aged and younger with a parent
Number of people needed: 20 needed to help

2. Outdoor Beautification at Covenant Church

Time: 9 a.m.—12 p.m. Location: Covenant Church
Project: We will be cleaning up the wooded area behind the picnic shelter as well as the area by the back playing field.
Age: All ages; elementary school aged and younger with a parent

3. Yard Work

Project: We will be offering our services to people who need help with yard work.
Age: All ages; elementary school aged and younger with a parent

Note: All participants are encouraged to bring lawn equipment if possible

4. Various Projects at HP Salvation Army

Projects:
A. Playground – Moving new mulch into the playground area from the parking lot. Number of people: 15; all ages
B. Take down and build a new play set (SA will provide)
Number of people: 5
C. Flower Bed—Small area to be weeded.
Number of people: 3
D. Picnic Tables—Sand and stain 3 picnic tables.
Number of people: 6
E. Food Pantry—Make bags of non-perishable food to be distributed as needed; sort and organize the pantry.
Number of people: 15

5. Back Pack Meals

Age: All ages; elem school aged and younger with a parent Number of people needed: 12
Project: Sort donated food and pack 103 backpacks for distribution.
All are asked to bring food items for packing between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Meals will be packed from 1-2 p.m.
Items needed are—
Can of Soup, Vienna Sausages / Can of Tuna, Ramen Noodles, Can of Spaghetti O’s, Can of Vegetables, Fruit Cups, Pop-Tarts, Oatmeal, Box of Capri-Sun drinks, Box of Chocolate Milk, Snacks ( Crackers/ Small bags of chips / Rice Crispy Treats / Fruit Rollups)

6. Light Home Repair

Project: Light Home repair project(s), basic tools provided, please bring work gloves and eye protection.
Age: Adult, High school, Middle school with parent.
Number of people needed: 10-15 persons


7. Bubbles and Snack Sticker Decoration

Anytime between 10 am—12 pm
Location: Covenant Rm 10
Project: Decorating sticker sheets and placing them on individually wrapped snacks to be delivered to HP Hospital for use in the waiting rooms. We will also be decorating stickers and placing them around containers of bubbles. Participants will be encouraged to take 2 to 4 bubbles with them to deliver. Families can decide for themselves who they would like to give the bubbles to.

Number of People: All who show up will find a place to serve

8. Serving at Local Retirement Centers and Nursing Homes

(Toni Grady) – Sing-along and visit with residents – We will sing familiar songs such as hymns, folk songs, and children’s songs, if we have children in our group.
B. Brookdale Skeet Club (15) – 1560 Skeet Club Rd, High Point

Point Person TBD) – Activity: Bingo, hand out prizes, and visit with residents
C. The Stratford (15) – 1573 Skeet Club Rd, High Point
(Linda Johnson) – Bingo, hand out prizes, and visit with residents
D. Friends Home Whittier Hall (20) – 925 New Garden Rd, Greensboro
(Robin Gentile) – Sing-along and visit with residents – We will sing familiar songs such as hymns, folk songs, and children’s songs, if we have children in our group.
E. Spring Arbor (15) – 5125 Michaux Rd, Greensboro
(Point Person TBD) – Crafts and visiting with residents – Participants will help the residents complete a simple craft project (supplies, directions, and sample of completed craft provided).

9. Appreciation Cookies for HP Firefighters & Police

Time: (Part 1) -Participants bake cookies in their homes and bring to church by 10 a.m., Friday May 18.
Time: (Part 2) – 10 a.m. Saturday to completion. Cookies are delivered to multiple stations in High Point
Project: Participants are asked to bake at least 3 dozen cookies each (more, if possible) and deliver to church for assembly into trays. Some participants will sort and package cookies according to the number needed for each station and shift. Delivery will be made on Saturday to various stations throughout High Point with notes of appreciation for their service.
Age: All ages, however this project will require your own transportation.
Number of people: Minimum 20 bakers; Minimum 5 deliverers.

10. Faith Friends Day

Project: This is an opportunity for all of the Faith Friends Campers and their parents to meet the leaders of FF summer camp. We will be having some food, music and games as a way of connecting with campers and their families.
Participants are asked to set up, cook, host games and be a welcoming presence for our guests.
Number of people needed: 40

11. Community Garden Work (consists of several projects in different locations. Participants will provide their own transportation).
